Current Behavior:
Right now, the system’s subscribe/unsubscribe function appears to apply universally — when a user unsubscribes, it affects both SMS and email communications simultaneously.
Problem:
Businesses may want to honor user preferences separately. For example, a customer might want to stop receiving SMS notifications while continuing to receive important updates or promotions via email — or vice versa. Having a single combined unsubscribe option limits flexibility and could negatively affect engagement or compliance with communication preference laws (like TCPA or CAN-SPAM).
Suggested Feature:
Add granular communication preference controls that allow users (and admins) to manage subscriptions by channel.
Separate “Unsubscribe from SMS” and “Unsubscribe from Email” options. As well as unscribe all option. So there should be unscribe all option, unscribe email and a unscribe sms option.
Allow API or automation workflows to respect these settings individually.
Reflect status clearly on the contact profile (e.g., “Email: Subscribed / SMS: Unsubscribed”).
Benefits:
Improves user experience and trust
Ensures better compliance with marketing communication laws
Gives businesses more flexibility in engagement strategies
Absolutely Agree.
Also just as important is that no one should ever just be given the option to simply Unsubscribe, they should ALWAYS be given the option to UPDATE their details.
Many people want to stay on a mailing list or SMS list, but wish to change their email address (or mobile number) from a work address to a personal address or simply a new address and stay on the list.
I am amazed at how many mailing lists I am on and I have no way of staying on the list if I change my email address. All I can do is unsubscribe and have no option to either change my address or re-subscribe with a new address. That’s the primary purpose of having a CRM record, to keep a perpetual record of people who engage with you as a lead and then become followers and buyers.
There should be an option to Update or Unsubscribe, seperately for Email and SMS.
